What a weekend!!! Record car counts, MPH records getting smashed!! It was an almost perfect weekend, except for the M&M Motorsoprts team. It was a rough start to the weekend when friday on the way to the track, On HWY 401 at Port-Hope, we blew 2 tires on the trailer. Not the best place or time for something like that....and for anyone who has blown a tire, you know exactly what I mean. After help from the guys at North Humberland tire we were back on our way.
Once at the track , we scaled the car and headed to the lanes to make our first pass. What a first pass it was!! A wild ride! At about 40´ ft the car made a hard right towards the wall, and pedalling couldn´t save it. I had to short shift to get it corrected. Car saved, we headed back to pits to make some adjustments. Unfortunately for us Test & Tune was over so we would have to waituntil morning to try again. When the sun came up & the track was prepped we headed once again to the starting line to try out our adjustments. Let´s just say it was sticky.... We were the 3rd car out, but didn´t make it too far. The trans brake was released and to my surprise a loud bang!!! The rear end self destructed. Not just a gear set either. The gears, the caps, bolts, and side adjusters, all broken. Some choice words were said, and then the hunt was on for a replacement rear end. So, to every pit we went looking, with no luck. We put the car back together and were ready to load when...Luc Ricard , from Laval Quebec, walked into the pit with a whole rear diff. "If it fits use it." And use it we did. It was the last qualifier of the day and we had almost no time to get the car in the field. Thanks to the help of 5 or more helpful sets of hands we had the car in the lanes in less than 30 minutes. We lined it up and let it eat. After a 300´wheelie the car was straight as an arrow...unfotunately just out of the qualifying time of 8.20. Dissapointed we signed up f'or bracket racing the next day. We went 2 rounds. We had a great time none the less. Ran our best 60´ft at 1.25. And got to meet a lot of nice people as we made our way through the pits looking for parts. A huge thanks to Luc Ricard for the use of his rear end after his car broke. We hope he gets it back together and we can meet in the lanes. Stay tuned for some video to come soon. Next week there will be a sneak peek atsome big news...so MAKE SURE YOU CHECK BACK. |
